EXO is a dance vocal group under SM ENTERTAINMENT. Their name signifies "a new star from an unknown world" and is inspired by the term "exoplanet," which refers to planets outside our solar system.
Debuted in Korea and China in April 2012.
In November 2015, the group made their Japanese debut with "Love Me Right ~romantic universe~". The single reached the top of the ORICON chart upon release. They also set a record as the fastest international male artist to hold solo performances at Tokyo Dome and KYOCERA DOME OSAKA. Their debut in Japan was remarkable, as they took home three ORICON Annual New Artist Awards.
In January 2018, they released their 1st Japanese album, "COUNTDOWN." The album reached the top of the ORICON Weekly Album Chart upon its release. This was the first time in history that an international group achieved a number-one position with their first album following their debut single. They also dominated the Billboard Hot Albums Chart and other music charts.
Possessing both looks, overwhelming vocal abilities, and dance skills, the group has expanded their activities beyond the group, including sub-units EXO-CBX and EXO-SC, as well as solo activities, and continues to be the only group to consistently be at the forefront of the industry.
